Sodium polyacrylate is a water-soluble polymer compound with strong thickening and water retention functions. This product is a food additive approved for use by the US FDA, the Japanese Ministry of Health, and the Chinese Ministry of Health. This product has the following properties:

1. It has a high molecular weight and is an electrolyte, and aqueous solutions exhibit high viscosity. The viscosity is about 15-20 times that of CMC, sodium alginate, etc.

2. The viscosity of the aqueous solution can be adjusted based on the different concentrations of the solution and the use of acetic acid to change the pH value.

3. Strong thermal stability, almost no decomposition at 200 ℃.

4. The aqueous solution combines with divalent metal ions such as iron, calcium and magnesium to form an insoluble gel.

When used in combination with other thickeners such as guar gum, the viscosity of its aqueous solution will significantly increase. Therefore, a relatively small amount of addition can be used to obtain an aqueous solution with the same viscosity.
